GENEVA, Ohio (February 22, 2023) – Howard University men's swimming & diving team sits atop of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship standing after two days of competition.
After two days, HU has a slim lead over LIU, 228-221.
Senior
Miles Simon (Atlanta) highlighted the day with another record-setting performance. The Atlanta native won the 200 IM with a new meet record of 1:46.80, which is also a new program benchmark.
Sophomore
Erald Thompson III (Nassau, Bahamas), senior
Arion Solomon (Fairburn, Ga.) and junior
Langston Weddington (Marietta, Ga.) also took part in the event, claiming fifth (1:53.45), sixth (1:53.92) and seventh (1:54.48), respectively.
Graduate
Miguel Davis, Jr. (Washington), junior
Spencer Miles (Lynchburg, Va.), sophomore
Tristan Stevens (Chicago) and newcomer
Taj Benton (Baltimore) represented HU in the 200 Medley Relay, earning runner-up with a time of 1:29.81 (school record).
Senior
Mark-Anthony Beckles (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago) took second place in the 50 Free, clocking in at 20.12. Third-year Bison
Spencer Miles (Lynchburg, Va.) also competed, finishing sixth (20.74).
Senior
Luke-Kennedy Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) finished third in the 500 Free with a school record of 4:28.79. Junior
Mark-Anthony Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) also competed, producing a seventh-place time of 4:45.34.
The action continues Thursday (Feb. 23), beginning with the prelims at 10 a.m., followed by the final round at 6 p.m.
