VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 25, 2022) – No. 8 Howard University women's bowling team saw its title run come to an end at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship, falling to No. 1 North Carolina A&T State (NCAT), 2-0, and No. 5 Morgan State (MSU), 2-0, in the quarterfinal round.
In the morning session, NCAT won the traditional round, 1,010-832. Senior bowler
Jayla Webster (Woodbridge, Va.) led the Bison with a match-leading 242, followed by fellow classmate
Jahnia Phillips (Elmont, N.Y.) with 183.
North Carolina A&T State defeated HU in the Baker total pinfall round, 1,051-816.
In the afternoon, Howard faced MSU in the loser's bracket.
Senior
Janae Bradford (Chicago) had a team-best 192 during the traditional competition, but the Bison dropped both rounds to Morgan State and were eliminated.
Four Bison competed in their final matches for HU: Bradford; Phillips; Webster and
Moriah Brown (Knoxville, Tenn.).
Howard finished the season 14-38 overall.
