MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (November 6, 2022) – Howard University women's bowling team took sixth overall at the Virginia Union Invitational (VUU), hosted by the Lady Panthers, in Midlothian, Va.
Four Bison finished in the top 12, led by freshman standout
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) averaging a 167.8 in five traditional matches.
In traditional play, HU went 3-2 on the day with victories over Virginia State, 731-330, VUU, 764-473, and rival Norfolk State, 767-736.
Rookie
Sydney Allison (Ypsilanti, Mich.) placed eighth overall in traditional matches, rolling 163.0 per game, including a team-high 207 in the narrow loss to Coppin State, 823-802.
Newcomer
Janae Pugh (Chicago) and junior
Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) rounded out the Bison, earning 10
th (158.4 per game) and 11
th (154.2 per game), respectively.
Howard opened the tournament with a pair of wins in Baker play against Virginia Union, 657-600, and Bowie State (BSU), 757-741.
HU swept the Lady Panthers in a best-of-seven baker match, 4-0, but dropped two against BSU, 4-1 and 4-0, respectively.
Mount St. Mary's won the 2022 VUU Invitational, knocking off Coppin State (CSU) in five games, 4-1. Individually, CSU's Logan Brown claimed the individual medal after averaging 192.4 in five traditional matches.
On Nov. 11-12, HU goes to Millsboro, Del., for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Meet No. 1, hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore.
