NEWARK, N.J. - The Bison earned a runner up finish with a score of 153 at NJIT's tri-meet Saturday afternoon. The Competition consisted of Sacred Heart University, Long Island University, and host, the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Howard started off their climb winning an exciting down to the millisecond 200-Medley Relay. An event the Bison have excelled in throughout the year, the group consisting of Miles Simon (Atlanta, Ga.), Darin Johnson (Atascocita, Texas), Taj Benton (Baltimore, Md.), and Mark-Anthony Beckles (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago) posted a time of 1:33.05 in the nail biter. Through all four swimmers HU and NJIT went stroke for stroke. On the third leg, freshman Taj Benton gave the Bison the slight edge needed, giving Beckles room to bring it home. The Highlanders finished runner up with a time of 1:33.17. LIU was not far behind posting their time of 1:33.77.

Swimming a personal best of 1:42.26, Senior Mark-Anthony Beckles picked up his first individual top finish of the event in the 200-Free. The Caribbean native would later go on to earn another freestyle victory swimming a season best in the 100-Free with his time of 45.42 seconds.

Miles Simon capped his performance with two first place finishes. The senior earned his first individual victory in the 200-IM when he outraced the competition with a time of 1:54.23. Simon swam to an exciting finish in the 200-Backstroke snatching 1st with his time of 1:52.69 - a mere .21 seconds ahead of his competition.
NJIT's A and B teams placed first and third to round out the top honors at the event.

The Bison take a month-long hiatus before returning to competition December 2nd at Loyola's H2ounds Invitational in Baltimore, Md.
