WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 30, 2022) - The men of Howard University swimming and diving highlighted the final home meet of the year with a 162-62 victory over Virginia Military Institute Saturday afternoon.

Remaining a dominant force in relays, the Bison opened the meet with a top finish in the 400-medley relay (3:27.36). Howard shifted their usual group for fresh legs opting for Tristan Stevens (Chicago, Ill.), Darin Johnson (Atascocita, Texas) to compete with staples Miles Simon (Atlanta, Ga.) and Mark-Anthony Beckles (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago) in the event.

Howard's Darien Williams (Philadelphia, PA) won the team's first individual top finish in the 1000-Free with a time of 10:18.75, beating the competition by over six seconds.

Senior Mark-Anthony Beckles went on to pick up his first individual finish when he won the 200-Free (1:42.76) with five seconds to go before the next finish.

Howard swept the top three finishes in the 50-Free with freshman Taj Benton (Baltimore, Md.) earning 1st place (21.49). Continuing the charge, Howard claimed the first four finishes in the 100-IM. Miles Simon finished in first (50.76) with a four second advantage over his runner-up teammate.

The Bison put on a show in the 50-Butterfly. With times of 22.65 (Mark-Anthony Beckles), 23.24 (Arion Solomon; Fairborn, Ga.) and 23.32 (Brent Cooper; Baton Rouge, La.), Howard again took the top finishes to push the scoreboard in the Bison's favor.

Sophomore Tristan Stevens notched another victory for the Bison when he won the 50-Backstroke with a second to spare (28.54). First-year Tyger Triche (Humble, Texas) also picked up an individual medal with seconds to spare in his 500-Free victory (4:59.90).

Siblings Luke-Kennedy and Mark-Anthony Thompson were neck and neck in the 50-Breaststroke through both laps. The former took home the top finish, beating his brother by 0.75 seconds (25.98).

Staying true to the season, the Bison capped the event with victory in the 400-Relay. The group consisting of Tristan Stevens, Spencer Miles, Arion Solomon, and Miles Simon out-swam Howard's B team by two and a half seconds (3:10.21).

The Bison continue the rest of the fall season on the road. HU is back in action Saturday (November 5th) as they travel to Newark, N.J. to compete in NJIT's Tri-Meet.
