EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 3, 2021) – Howard University senior
Ayoade Adebiyi (Virginia Beach, Va.) set the tone in cross country opening weekend, breaking the program's school mark at the Mount 5K Duals, hosted by Mount St. Mary's.
The Virgnia native took seventh overall, clocking in at a new school record of 16:13.15. The previous mark was held by
Momahed Bah (16:16.30).
Other notable performance from the men included newcomer
Marsellis Davis (Columbus, Ohio) finishing in the top half, producing a 17:15.91 time in his collegiate debut.
On the women's side, rookie
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) led the way with a 20:45.83 mark while fellow classmate
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) registered a 21:01.69 time.
Third-year Bison
Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.) also finished in the top half, earning a time of 21:37.08.
Franklin Pierce's Wondu Summa won the men's 5K while George Washington's Margaret Coogan claimed first place on the women's side.
In two weeks (Sept. 17), Howard returns to action for the James Madison Invitational in New Market, Va.
