GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 24, 2021) – Despite the inclement weather, senior standout
Destiny Stanford (Woolwhich Township, N.J.) put on another record-setting performance at the Aggie Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T State (NCAT), shattering her own mark in the 1500-meter run.
The New Jersey native shaved over three seconds off her previous record, posting a 4:31.72 time. With her efforts, Stanford placed second overall in the event. Junior
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) also competed in the 1500-meter run and took fourth overall, clocking in at 4:37.68.
In the 800-meter run, Stanford earned the top spot with a 2:11.79 mark.
Senior
Ozioma Scott (Georgetown, Guyana) finished runner-up in the 400-meter run (55.49) while newcomer
Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md.) claimed second in the 100-meter hurdles, winning her heat with a 13.94 time.
In the field, junior
Diana Effiom (Dallas) and
Erin Hatcher (Burtonsville, Md.) claimed third (48.00 meters; 157'6") and seventh (43.32 meters; 142'1"), respectively, in the hammer throw.
Sophomore
Minyarn Smalls (Cary, N.C.) took part in the javelin where she threw over 106 feet (32.14 meters), the best mark by any Bison this season.
On May 7-8, Director of Track and Field
David Oliver and the Bison once again return to North Carolina A&T State, this time for MEAC Championships weekend.
