WASHINGTON (October 29, 2021) – Howard University men's swimming & diving team took down crosstown rival American, 137.5-86.5, in front of a packed house at Burr Pool.
Collectively, HU grabbed nine victories while seeing several Bison etch their names into the school's record books.
Juniors
Mark-Anthony Beckles (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago),
Miles Simon (Atlanta) and
Arion Solomon (Fairburn, Ga.), alongside sophomore
Spencer Miles (Lynchburg, Va.), capped off the night with a win in the 200 Free Relay, clocking in the third-fastest time in program history (1:23.78).
Individually, Beckles won a pair of races in the 50 Free (21.13) and 100 Free (46.40). For his efforts, he posted the eighth-best mark in program history for both events.
Simon continues to excel, winning the 200 Free (1:43.45) and 200 Back (1:57.60) while placing sixth and fifth all-time, respectively, in school history.

Miguel Davis, Jr. (Washington), junior
Kevin Claiborne (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore
Brenton Cooper (Baton Rouge, La.) opened the night with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, recording a 1:36.14 mark.
Junior
Luke-Kennedy Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and newcomer
Erald Thompson III (Nassau, Bahamas) competed in the 400 IM where they placed first (4:15.02) and third (4:24.57), respectively. As a result, they landed third and eighth, respectively, on the all-time performance list.
L. Thompson also competed in the 500 Free, earning gold with the fourth-best time in program history (4:46.19).
Other notable performances included sophomore
Mark-Anthony Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) producing the fourth-fastest all-time mark in the 1000 Free (10:17.69) while junior
Reese Samuel (Pittsburgh) claiming the seventh-best all-time in school history for the 200 Fly (1:59.28).
On the board, freshman
Jordan Walker (Schertz, Texas) finished first with a score of 242.40.
On Nov. 6, Howard competes in its first road dual meet of the season at Virginia Military Institute. First race starts at 1 p.m.
