NORFOLK, Va. (November 24, 2020) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its Football All-Time Team where eight Howard University Bison were honored as part of the league's 50
th anniversary celebration during the 2020-21 calendar year.
The squad comprised of 50 outstanding student-athletes throughout the conference's history and nearly 2,500 votes were cast by fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others.
The eight Bison named featured four MEAC Hall of Famers, four MEAC Offensive Players of the Year and two MEAC Defensive Players of the Year.
Here are the Bison honorees: (listed alphabetically by last name):
- Antoine Bethea, Defensive Back [2-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (2004 & 2005); 2015 MEAC Hall of Famer]
- Gary Harrell, Wide Receiver [2-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (1991 & 1993)]
- Greg McGhee, Quarterback [2-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (2013 &2014); 2-time MEAC Offensive Player of the Year (2013 & 2014); 2011 MEAC Rookie of the Year]
- Keith Pough, Linebacker [3-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (2010, 2011 & 2012); 2012 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year]
- Tracy Singleton, Wide Receiver [3-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (1980, 1981 & 1982); 2-time MEAC Offensive Player of the Year (1981 & 1982)]
- Jay Walker, Quarterback [2-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (1992 & 1993); 1993 MEAC Offensive Player of the Year; 2018 MEAC Hall of Famer]
- Ted White, Quarterback [1996 All-MEAC First Team Selection; 1996 MEAC Offensive Player of the Year; 2010 MEAC Hall of Famer]
- Tracy White, Linebacker [3-time All-MEAC First Team Selection (2000, 2001 & 2002); 2-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Year (2000 & 2001); 2017 MEAC Hall of Famer]
To be considered on the ballot, players must have been named to one of the following: First Team All-MEAC, MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Offensive Lineman of the Year or be a MEAC, Black College Football or College Football Hall of Fame inductee.
