COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 29, 2020) – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) unveiled its Scholar All-America Team for the 2019 Fall semester where Howard University was recognized. The announcement came Wednesday morning.
The CSCAA selected a record 762 programs from 480 institutions, based on Fall grade point averages (GPAs).
"[I am] super proud of the team for their dedication and pursuit for academic excellence," said Howard swimming and diving head coach
Nicholas Askew after receiving the news. "Thank you to our support staff that helped make this possible. We fully understand this could not be done without the combined efforts of everyone."
HU's men's and women's teams accumulated a 3.19 and 3.41 GPAs, respectively, during the Fall semester.
Overall, nearly 18,000 student-athletes were represented with more than 60-percent (470 teams) belonging to women's programs. Additionally, 23 teams, representing 19 institutions, earned Scholar All-America honors for the first time.
On Feb. 2, Howard closes out the regular season at NJIT. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
