WASHINGTON (October 4, 2019) – Howard University men's & women's swimming and diving teams opened its new season at the annual Potomac Relays Invite, hosted by American University, where several relay squads finished in the top three.
 
On the men's side, newcomer Arion Solomon (Fairburn, Ga.) highlighted Friday's event as he was part of three second-place teams.
 
Solomon, alongside fellow classmates Miles Simon (Atlanta) and Luke-Kennedy Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and junior Kegan Ford (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago), took second in the men's 500 Free Relay, clocking in at 4:11.55.
 
Simon, Solomon and freshman Mark-Anthony Beckles (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago) finished runner-up in the 3x100 Butterfly relay.
 
Beckles, Ford, Simon and second-year swimmer Miguel Davis, Jr. (Washington) also earned a silver medal on the today in the 200 Medley relay.
 
For the women, they had a pair of third-place finishes.
 
Junior Nia-Carole Parker (Wyncote, Pa.) and freshman Jada Johnson (New Albany, Ohio) claimed third in the women's 1000 Free Relay while senior Leanne McMaster (Kingston, Jamaica), sophomore India Jackson (Philadelphia) and newcomer Ileana Bocage (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) also finished third in the 3x100 Breast relay.

Saturday (Oct. 5), Howard hosts Virginia Military Institute (VMI) inside Burr Pool. First race is set for 1 p.m.
