WASHINGTON (October 31, 2019) – Howard University women's bowling team returns to the lanes after a week away for the Virginia Union (VUU) Invitational, hosted by the Lady Panthers. The three-day event (Nov. 1-3) takes place in Glen Allen, Va., at the Bowl America Short Pump (4400 Pouncey Tract Road in Glen Allen, Va.).
The action starts Friday (Nov. 1) at 10 a.m.
LAST TIMEOUT
The bowling team participated in the Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's University (Oct. 19 and 20). Boasting a 7-2 mark, the Bison finished sixth overall, which was a huge improvement from their bottom four ranking the year before. All five student-athletes finished top five, individually.
MEET PREVIEW
Howard enters the weekend with an 11-8 overall mark with a pair of victories over top 25 squads: No. 21 Mount St. Mary's and No. 24 LIU-Brooklyn. On the year, HU has a 2-3 mark against teams ranked in the top 25.
Senior
Tea Lewis (Chesterfield, Va.) and sophomore
Janae Bradford (Chicago) led the Bison, posting an average over 180.
Over the weekend, the lone senior will be recognized for her outstanding contributions to the program.
UPCOMING SEASON
On Nov. 8-10, HU goes to nearby Glen Burnie, Md., for the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet of the season, hosted by Coppin State.
