WASHINGTON (October 18, 2019) – Howard University women's bowling team returns to the lanes this weekend (Oct. 19-20) at the Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's University.

Howard grabbed four victories in the season opener at the Bud Whitman Memorial, hosted by Chestnut Hill College.
Saturday (Oct. 12), HU won a pair of Baker Matches over Kutztown, 1,034-934, and Mount Aloysius, 923-805. Junior
Carolyn Williams (Glen Burnie, Md.) led the Bison, averaging 181.2 in five traditional matches, including a game-high 220 in the win over Long Island-Brooklyn (LIU-Brooklyn).
The following day (Oct. 13), Howard opened the morning with back-to-back victories over rival Coppin State, 813-812, and LIU-Brooklyn, 879-877. Second-year bowler
Janae Bradford (Chicago) produced a 179.2 average, including a weekend-best 214 in a tough loss against Duquesne, 855-970.
MEET PREVIEW
Saturday (Oct. 19), the women will compete in a field of 16 teams where multiple conference rivals will be in attendance, including Coppin State University, Morgan State University, and nationally ranked Delaware State University. HU will start the tournament by competing in five traditional style matches.
Competition continues Sunday (Oct. 20) with two five-game baker style matches. At the conclusion of those matches, there will be a brief break while results are tabulated to determine each team's seed. Once the results are in, the Bison will compete in bracket play matches. This will consist of two best four-out-of-seven matches.
UPCOMING SEASON
On Nov. 1-3, the team will be competing at the Virginia Union Invitational, hosted by Virginia Union University.
