Nicholas Askew and the Howard University Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams resume competition when they return to Baltimore where the UMBC Retrievers await. The action starts 2 p.m.
LAST MEET
At the H2ounds Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), Howard broke four school records while setting new personal bests.
Among those records falling were a pair of incredible individual performances by senior
KaSandra Kaplan (Detroit) and sophomore
William Speakman Smith II (Jacksonville, Fla.).
Kaplan topped the school's 200 Breast (2:23.65) while Smith broke a 20-year record held by Coach Askew in the men's 200-yard Breaststroke (2:07.08).
BISON TO WATCH
On the men's side, Smith and senior
Alexander Barnes (Rockledge, Fla.) had tremendous success in the first half of the season. Smith seeks to build on his momentum in the 100 & 200 Free, along with the 100 & 200 Breast, while Barnes will take part in the men's 100 & 200 yard Butterfly.
For the women, Kaplan and second-year diver
Christian Nickolas (Brentwood, Calif.) look to add to their impressive list of accomplishments. Kaplan seeks to top more school records while Nickolas continues her prepare for the 2019 NCAA Diving Championships.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Jan. 12, HU takes on Old Dominion in a duel competition. First race starts 1 p.m. in Norfolk, Va.
