WASHINGTON (January 26, 2019) – Howard University men's swimming & diving team took down crosstown foe Catholic in their final home meet of the season with a 155-125 victory on Senior Day.
Before the meet, head coach
Nicholas Askew and the program recognized its 11 seniors, including seven men:
Alexander Barnes (Rockledge, Fla.),
Justice Brown-Duso (Cranston, R.I.),
Farion Cooper II (Nassau, Bahamas),
MenSa Eggleston (Mount Rainer, Md.),
Nicholas Haughton (Kingston, Jamaica),
Jonathan Hill (Vero Beach, Fla.), and
Mark McCluskey (Hope, Maine).
Additionally, the team recognized manager Deeshai Escoffery for his hard work and dedication to the program.
Barnes and second-year swimmers
Kegan Ford (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) and
William Speakman Smith II (Jacksonville, Fla.) each had a pair of victories in their respective events.
Barnes led the way with two victories in the men's 100 and 200 Butterfly. The Florida native registered a 52.46 in the 100 Fly while recording a season-best in the 200 Fly (1:59.39).
All season long, Ford has dominated the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Ford placed first in both races, clocking in at 22.01 (50 Free) and 48.57 (100 Free).
Smith continues his momentum with wins in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Breaststroke. The Jacksonville product earned the top spot with a 1:46.23 (200 Free) and 2:12.60 (200 Breast).
Other notable Bison with victories include Cooper (100 Backstroke; 54.67), junior
Noah Nicholas (Atlanta) in the men's 1000 Free (10:16.33) and freshman
Miguel Davis, Jr. (Prince George's County, Md.) in the 100 Breast (1:00.14).
Howard also grabbed a pair of victories in the 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay.

On Feb. 20-23, Howard goes to Lynchburg, Va. for the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships.
