WASHINGTON (March 15, 2018) - Coach
Ron Davis and the Howard University Women's Bowling team travel to Tennessee for the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt (March 16-18). The three-day tournament takes place at the Smyrna Center in Smyrna, Tenn.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
Howard (25-58) competes in its final tourney of the season after falling short to reach the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championships. Furthermore, seniors
Kristyn Mitchell and
Sydney Reece will compete for the final time as Bison.
Mitchell leads the Bison, averaging 184.46 while producing 4,796 pinfalls. Second-year bowler
Tea Lewis is second on the team, posting a 177.89 average in 37 games, followed by newcomer
Carolyn Williams with a 172.94 in 34 games while recording 5,880 pinfalls.
Friday (March 16), Howard starts the weekend with five baker matches, starting at 9:40 a.m. The Bison continue the weekend with five traditional matches, starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (March 17). HU concludes the weekend with three best of seven baker matches at 8:30 a.m. Sunday (March 18).
LAST TIMEOUT
Howard hosted the MEAC Northern Division Meet No. 3 where they went 6-2, landing them in third place.
In traditional match play, Williams led the way, finishing second overall after averaging a 189.75, followed by Lewis, who landed herself in 10th place.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Howard concludes its 2017-18 campaign, but Coach Davis and the women's bowling team would like to thank everyone for their support and continue to watch as the Bison wrap up their final tournament of the year.
