WASHINGTON (November 29, 2018) – After nearly three weeks away from competition, Coach
Nicholas Askew and the Howard University Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving team travel to Baltimore where they will compete in the H2ound Invitational, hosted by Loyola (Md.). The two-day event begins Friday (Nov. 30) at 5 p.m., followed by two sessions Saturday (Dec. 1) at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

LAST MEET
On Nov. 10, both squads fell to crosstown foe George Washington. HU Men lost, 161-64, while women suffered a 159-72 defeat.
For the men, senior
Alexander Barnes (Rockledge, Fla.) led the way with a second-place in the men's 100 yard Butterfly, posting a 52.04 mark.
On the women's side, sophomore diver
Christian Nickolas (Brentwood, Calif.) won the women's 1-meter event, posting a 266.55 mark, and qualified for the 2019 NCAA Diving Championships. With her efforts, she became the first Bison to qualify in over a decade.
BISON TO WATCH
On the men's side, the trio of Barnes and sophomores
Kegan Ford (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) and
William Speakman Smith II (Jacksonville, Fla.) have been the catalyst at this point of the season. Entering the midway point, Ford has won six overall individual events in the men's 50 Free and 100 Free while Barnes and Smith have led the squad's relay teams.
For the women, senior
KaSandra Kaplan (Detroit) and freshman
Madison Freeland (Glenside, Pa.) have paced the Bison so far. On Nov. 13, the Detroit native earned Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Swimmer of the Week after a stellar performance against Atlantic 10 Champions George Washington. Individually, Freeland has excelled in the first half, winning four times in four different events (100 Free; 1000 Free; 200 Fly; and 500 Free).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
After the New Year, Coach Askew and the Bison return to Baltimore for a duel meet against UMBC. First race starts 2 p.m.
