WASHINGTON (November 2, 2018) – After a week away from the pool, coach
Nicholas Askew and the Howard University Men's & Women's swimming & diving teams return for a three-team meet where they will face Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth. The action starts 1 p.m. in Emmitsburg, Md.
LAST MEET
Both squads defeated Chowan in their home opener.
Howard men downed the Hawks, 154-98, inside Burr Gym Pool. The trio of senior
Farion Cooper II (Nassau, Bahamas) and sophomores
Kegan Ford (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) and
William Speakman Smith II (Jacksonville, Fla.) led the way.
HU women grabbed a 161-97 victory while improving to 4-1 on the season. Senior
KaSandra Kaplan (Detroit) and newcomers
Madison Freeland (Glenside, Pa.) and
Myka Thomas (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the charge for Howard.
BISON TO WATCH
On the men's side, Ford and senior
Alexander Barnes (Rockledge, Fla.) have paced HU so far.
Ford has won six overall individual events in the men's 50 Free and 100 Free while Barnes leads the squad's 200 medley team. This season, both Bison won Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimmer of the Week, respectively.
For the women, Kaplan continues to build on her legacy as one of the most accomplished swimmers in program history. The Detroit product has five individual victories on the year. Freeland has made a splash in her first season, winning four times in four different events (100 Free; 1000 Free; 200 Fly; and 500 Free).

On Nov. 10, the Bison take on George Washington in a crosstown duel meet. First race begins 1 p.m.
