WASHINGTON (October 20, 2018) – Howard Men's Swimming & Diving squad downed the Chowan Hawks, 154-98, in their home opener inside Burr Gym Pool.
With the win, HU moved to 2-3 on the year.
The trio of senior
Farion Cooper II (Nassau, Bahamas) and sophomores
Kegan Ford (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) and
William Speakman Smith II (Jacksonville, Fla.) led the way.
Cooper was victorious in the men's 100 Backstroke (55.02) and 200 Backstroke (2:03.68) while Ford won the 50 Free (21.80) and 100 Free (48.88).
Smith topped the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:45.15) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.92).
Other Bison picking up individual wins included seniors
Alexander Barnes (100 Fly; 51.87) and
Nicholas Haughton (500 Free; 5:02.88), junior
Noah Nicholas (1000 Free; 10:36.27), sophomore
Jon Bendana (200 Fly; 2:06.35) freshman
Miguel Davis, Jr. (100 Breaststroke; 59.33).
Barnes, Cooper, Ford, and Davis also won the men's 200-yard medley relay with a 1:37.57 mark.

After a week away from the pool, coach Askew and the Bison travel to Emmitsburg, Md. for a three-team meet between Howard, Monmouth and Mount St. Mary's. First race is slated for 1 p.m.
