EMMITSBURG, Md. – The Howard men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up its Friday night meet with Mount St. Mary's.

The men's team picked up its first dual meet victory of the season by a score of 161-107 to improve to 1-2 overall. The women fell to the Mount, 169-91, and move to 0-3 in dual meets.

On the men's side, TJ Miller, Xavier Philips, Alexander Barnes and Mark McCluskey joined together to win the 400 medley relay in a time of 4:01.02. Philips, Miller and McCluskey teamed up with Don Brazelton to claim the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.34).

Miller went on to win the 100 freestyle (52.64) and 200 freestyle (2:00.29). Philips (9:13.04) and Noah Nicholas (9:18.73) took first and second, respectively, in the 800 freestyle.

Brazelton touched the wall first in the 50 backstroke (28.50), followed by Farion Cooper in second (29.23). McCluskey grabbed a victory in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.99, while Nicholas Haughton placed first in the 400 freestyle in 4:24.71. Barnes finished first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 26.52.

Nas Sorrell won the 1 meter diving competition with 165.15 points.

For the women, Susanna Reese, Leanne McMaster, Paris Phillips and KaSandra Kaplan won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:52.68.

McMaster checked in second in the 200 freestyle (2:17.38) and 50 butterfly (30.62). Latroya Pina finished the 50 breaststroke in 36.15 to place second and Akesha Minnifee-Cox was third (37.27). Pina also placed second in the 200 IM in 2:35.76, followed by Andreas Weach in third (2:53.01).

In the 50 freestyle, Phillips placed second in 27.85, while Minnifee-Cox was second in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:50.93. Kaplan and Danielle Brown round out the top three in the 400 freestyle in 4:48.39 and 4:50.67, respectively.

Howard will host Barton College on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. in its home opener.
