Senior Day Sweep Highlights Busy Swimming Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC --- The Howard men's & women's swimming and diving teams had a busy couple of days over the weekend as the Bison hosted its Senior Day meet against Marymount and headed to Philadelphia for meets with Drexel University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday.

BISON SHINE IN SENIOR DAY SWEEP
In Howard's best performance of the season, both Bison teams earned victories over the visiting Marymount Saints (M: 102-83 / W: 133-60) on Friday evening. It marked the third win of the season of the women's team, the first win in nearly five years for the men and the first time in second-year head coach Nicholas Askew's tenure that the Bison have swept a meet.

HIGHLIGHTS
- 18 first place finishes in 22 events (including 15 in head-to-head races)
- Four Bison women (Marina Markous, Susanna Reese, Danielle Brown and Kasandra Kaplan) and three Bison men (TJ Miller, Mark McCluskey and Nick Haughton) contributing to three wins on each side
- A pair of wins for senior captain Benta Horton Gee in relay action (400 Yard Medley, 400 Yard Free)
- Three fourth-place finishes for senior captain Matthew Golden

TEAMS TAKE ON DREXEL, NJIT
The next day, Howard competed in a women's dual meet against Drexel (L,159-88) and a men's tri-meet with the host Dragons (L, 186-71) and NJIT (L, 224-53).

Howard's women will face fellow HBCU North Carolina A&T on Saturday, January 23 while both teams will head crosstown to Catholic University for a dual meet with the Cardinals on Saturday, January 30. Both meet dates begin at 1 p.m.
