CHESTNUT HILL, MA --- Boston College dominated in every phase of the game and steamrolled Howard University, 76-0 in a non-conference game at Alumni Stadium.
The Eagles (2-0) jumped out to a 28-0 lead, expanded it to 62-0 at halftime and cruised to the victory.
Boston College used a stifling defense to shorten the field and score on short drives. The Eagles' first seven scoring plays were 16 yards or less.
The Bison (0-2) had three and outs, lost yards on sacks & rushes or committed penalties that put them into deep holes against a veteran Boston College defense.
The Eagles converted on 5 of 7 third down conversions while Howard's woes continued, failing on all 12 third down attempts.
"They were able to impose their will; we fought hard, and we're going to continue to fight through it," said Howard head coach Gary "Flea" Harrell. "We have some freshmen who are playing at this time and it's definitely a learning experience. We play these games in these environments at least once a year to prepare the young guys coming from high school playing college ball for the first time."

Boston College liberally substituted as 11 different players carried the ball to the tune of 347 yards and 8 TDs on the ground. When the Eagles did pass, they had success as well, converting 12 of 15 for 136 yards and two TDs.
"No matter where we go and where we are on the field we have to show up and show out," said Bison junior cornerback
Kenneth Russ, who made some sterling plays in the loss. "I mean that's our job, we're defense."
Howard senior punter
John Fleck again had a stellar day, averaging 41 yards, but he punted 10 times.
In the second half, the game was shortened to 10-minute quarters following an agreement by Howard and Boston College.
"The officials approached me with the opportunity," explained Harrell. "They told me it was something they would consider. I told them I would think about it and that I would speak with my coaches and think about it. I always want to make sure that as a team we're not settling, or that we're not quitting, but understanding where we are. We're trying to make sure we are competitive and injury free. We came here for a specific job. At that time I had to make an executive decision and agree to the circumstances of that game. I knew about the rule of letting the clock run but when they presented the 10 minute mark for the third and fourth quarters so we agreed upon it. I think it was a good decision and from there we see we just have to work on some things for next week without any major injuries."
The Bison will receive somewhat of a reprieve when they face Hampton University on Friday in the AT&T Nation's Classic at RFK Stadium at 7:30 p.m. It marked the first time that Howard has played back to back FBS opponents in the same season.
"This is an important game coming up against Hampton," said Harrell. "It is the first league game. It is on a Friday night and it is on ESPNU.  We have to stay positive and continue to work on our weaknesses. We have to do better on third down conversions to have any chance for success against Hampton."
