Howard Falls to Drexel in Philadelphia

The Howard Bison swimming program continued their second semester slate of meets this weekend when they traveled to Philadelphia to face their familiar foes, the Drexel Dragons. Drexel proved to be too much for Howard as the host Dragons took both meets on the afternoon. The Lady Bison fell to the Lady Dragons 190-37 and the men lost by a score of 209-45.

Leading the way for the Bison were juniors Miles Hector (Omaha, NE) and Benjamin Skelding (Palmdale, CA.) Hector dropped over 30 seconds in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 17:26.90, good for third place. Hector also stormed back to capture second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:01.91.

Skelding earned third place honors in the 200-yard freestyle with his time of 1:52.79, a season-best mark. Skelding also took third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.41. Skelding teamed with fellow juniors Trent Popovich (Morro Bay, CA) and Dexter Brown (Pearland, TX) along with freshman Dante Williams (Warren, MI) to earn a season-best time of 1:42.18 in the 200-yard medley relay.

The Lady Bison were led by senior Janai Ederaine (Corona, CA). Ederaine finished in second place in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best tally of 2:28.49. The senior also notched third place honors in the 100-yard butterfly with a dual meet best time of 1:03.58.
