Well looks like I'm up next to update you guys with the weekly blog. For starters, after coming off from the UMBC tournament the team as a whole knew we needed to get back in the gym and get to work. Practice went very well this past week. I felt we gained more knowledge of how Coach K wants things done, and how to try and transfer our energy and confidence into games. Our main focus that we worked on was blocking drills, team defense, and serving. As the week went on we knew we had the William & Mary tournament coming up, and our first game we were going to be facing Howard University's #1 rival Hampton.
The van rides with the team are definitely one of a kind. Singing definitely isn't any of our talents, but somehow every time a catchy tune comes on the radio the team starts forming a choir and starts singing. We all laugh, and love to have a good time. We truly are sisters.
Overall, I feel the Lady Bison played hard and improved on the areas we worked on in practice the previous week. Serving had the other teams out of system and in my opinion was AMAZING throughout the whole tournament. We fell short each game, and Coach K keeps reminding us, "Yes we lost but we are learning how to win. It's the little things that defeat ourselves." I'm honestly not worried at all, because I believe this year's team is going to be where a division 1 team is supposed to be. Each week we have new goals set and it is up to us to put forth the determination and effort to get it done. As Coach K says "It's better to have an average day rather than a bad day." If we all keep learning and improving, on our days where we aren't all there we should still dominate teams we face. We will keep improving each day we have practice, and I can honestly say I'm looking forward to see the outcome of this year.
