SOMERSET, N.J. (October 3, 2022) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) unveiled its men's soccer weekly honors where Howard University freshman
Nigel McCloud (Fayetteville, Ga.) took home the league's Rookie of the Week award. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
In Sunday's victory over Central Connecticut State (CCSU), McCloud set the tone with a goal 10 minutes into the match. The rookie forward found the back of the net after the ball was slid to the far post, recording his second goal of the season while helping the Bison pickup their first NEC win of the season.
In just four contests, McCloud is second on the squad in total points (4) and total goals (2) behind second-year Bison
Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.).
Junior forward
Nathan Leggett (Apex, N.C.) was named to the NEC Prime Performers list after creating two first half opportunities for the Bison.
LIU's Emil Jaaskelainen was selected NEC Player of the Week.
Howard travels to Durham, N.C., to face perennial powerhouse No. 4 Duke Tuesday (Oct. 4) in nonconference play. Match time is slated for 7 p.m., live on the ACC Network.
