Former Howard University All American David Oliver captured the gold medal in the 110 hurdles at the World Athletics Championship in Moscow. Oliver, a former Olympic bronze medialist in 2008, clocked in at a sizzling 13.00 to win the event, ahead of Ryan Wilson (13.13) and Sergey Shubenkov (13.24) of the Soviet Union.. The time was the fastest in the world this year.
Oliver is no stranger to success on an international stage. He is currently the American record holder in the 110 hurdles with a personal best of 12.89. The native of Denver, CO, captured the 2010 IAAF World Indoor championship and is a four-time US champion.
During his impressive career at Howard, Oliver captured four MEAC titles and was the University's first, two-time All American. He holds the school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.55. Oliver is a 2004 graduate of Howard with a BA in Business and marketing.
