Ashley Goins continues to make a name for herself in history books of Howard Bison Swimming and Diving. For the second time in less than a month, the stellar senior from Silver Spring, Maryland was honored with the Coastal Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Diver of the Week for November 29 - December 5. Never before in Howard's history has a diver won the CCSA Diver of the Week honors and now the University can boast of having claimed it twice.
Goins celebrated her senior day at Burr Gymnasium with a sensational performance on the 1-meter board. She scored over 100 points more than the second place VMI diver and is an unofficial Howard University record. The win over the Keydets continued Goins first-place streak on both boards. Goins also demonstrated her versatility by anchoring the fourth place 400 freestyle relay and helped the Lady Bison's to their first team victory of the season.
"It's great to be on a team that cares so much about each other," said Goins. "I'm glad I can make such a contribution and will continue to work hard for the entire season."
The Bison will be in action next in Ft. Myers when Goins and her teammates take on the North Dakota Fighting Sioux on January 1st.
