LEWISBURG, PA. -
Landria Buckley, Azalia King, Ashley Hodges and Richard Williams
each captured first place in their respective events as the Howard
track and field team opened the 2009-10 indoor season at the Bison
Buckley won two events, the 200m
dash in 24.89 and the 60m hurdles in 8.42. Her 8.42 in the 60m
hurdles provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship in that
Jami Hardy won the 800m run
(2:19.44), Hodges captured the mile run
(5:12.69) and Williams was victorious in the 800m
run on the men's side (1:56.65) to lead HU.
Alexandria Lemonious was third in
the 60m hurdles (8.74) and Symone Glover led a 4-5-8-9 finish in
the 400m dash. Glover was fourth in 59.81 while Brittany Stephens
(1:00.20), Abigail Reid (1:01.29) and Zahra Thomas (1:01.33)
finished in fifth, eighth and ninth, respectively.
Tochi Odocha recorded a
second-place finish in the 200m dash (22.75) and Thurman Sanders
was third in the mile in 4:24.06.
Jerod Franklin won bronze in the
800m run (1:48.62). Howard's 4x400m relay squad (Stephen Bowe,
Brandon Hill, Michael Houston, Tory McAlister) posted a
second-place finish in 3:24.20.
In field events, Benjamin
Rosa leapt to a pair of fourth-place finishes in the high
jump (1.89m) and the triple jump (13.48m).
Alexandria McKee took home a
sixth-place finish in the high jump in 1.5m.
Howard is off for a few weeks, next
returning to action on Jan. 9 at the Father Diamond Invite in
