Howard will return to the New York metro area on Dec. 5 as the Big
Apple Classic delivers a fourth consecutive year of exciting,
unparalleled action. One of the most anticipated events of the
year, the BAC will feature the Bison vs. Hampton, one of the most
electrifying HBCU basketball rivalries, a dynamic college fair and
the hottest entertainment all rolled into one weekend to remember.
The main event showcases classic
rivalries between CIAA schools Virginia State University and
Virginia Union University, and the battle of the real
HU on Saturday, Dec. 5 in the world famous Madison Square
Garden. Game times are 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

donated to the American Cancer Society, which is partnering again
with the BAC to promote awareness of cancer screening and treatment
among African Americans. With 150,090 African Americans
expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and 63,360 expected to
lose their battle against the disease, the need for increased
awareness is urgent. In fact, African Americans have the highest
death rate and the shortest survival rate of any racial or ethnic
group in the U.S. for most cancers, mainly the result of social and
economic disparities, according to ACS.
