RESULTSWASHINGTON, DC --- In front of a strong contingent of friends, family and fellow student-athletes, the Howard women's swimming team hosted the program's first home meet of the season against the Lady Aggies of North Carolina A&T on Friday evening at the Burr Gymnasium Swimming Complex. Howard won six of the meet's 11 events - including a pair of wins by freshman
Kayla Walker - but the Lady Bison fell to the Lady Aggies, 105-98.
Walker easily won the 1,000 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 12:01.51 - more than two minutes faster than the next competitor. Walker's victory in the 500 Yard Freestyle - with a time of 5:50.86 - was a bit closer (18 seconds) but impressive nonetheless. In each event, a Howard swimmer claimed second place as well: Seniors
Caleah Gregoire (14:05.04) and
Marissa Gentry (6:08.88) in the 1,000 and 500, respectively.

Ayana Cox (2:03.28), freshman
Danielle Brown (2:19.32) and junior
Benta Horton-Gee (1:02.92) paced the 200 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard IM, and 100 Yard Backstroke with victories over second-place North Carolina A&T swimmers.

Briana Dillon teamed up to win the final event of the evening, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Trailing by only .02 seconds after the third leg, Dillon bested NC A&T's Aarica Carrington to give Howard a 1:42.95 victory (NCAT finished 1:43.13).
