DOVER, DE --- A late goal by freshman
Jaelin Etierre White proved to be the difference as the Howard Women's Soccer team won its fourth game in a row, defeating Delaware State University 1-0 on Tuesday evening at DSU's Alumni Stadium.
The win was the first road win for HU in five attempts (1-3-1) and puts the team back at .500 for the first time since September 8 (2-2-1; win over RMU).
The first-year midfielder put home the eventual game-winner for Howard (6-6-1) in the 74th minuteÂ
when sophomore Dytria Ruddy made a pass within Hornet territory to White about 20 yards in front of the net. With no defender unable to contest the shot, White's attempt sailed out of the reach DSU (1-13) goalkeeper Katelyn Koslosky.
Making Etierre-White's goal even more impressive is how close statistically the former Great West Conference rivals (Howard now competes as an independent) played each other:
SHOTS
DSU 12
HU 11
CORNERS
HU 5
DSU 4
SAVES
HU 4
DSU 4
The Lady Bison will wrap up the season with a home-and-home with New Jersey Institute of Technology, beginning with Howard's Senior Day game on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 PM.   Â
